Game Summary: The Beavers pushed their record to 4-1 behind a stellar pitching performance from sophomore Tommy Zappa and 12 base hits. It was all Cumberland from the get-go, when the Beaver bats treated freshman starting pitcher, Karsten Rimstena, rudely. Zappa led off the game by reaching on an error by 2B Gabe Pauslon. He got to second on a balk. C Beau Bergstrom grounded out, advancing Zappa. CF Brady Rose singled hard to left, knocking in Zappa. 1B Mitch Blaser singled to CF and 3B Sam Clark drew a walk. LF Sawyer FollansbeeDelong singled, driving in two runs. DH Mike Forster grounded into a fielder's choice, and RF Graham Miller doubled in a run to knock in the Beaver's fifth run. Graham Severson flied out to CF to end the inning.

Zappa would cruise through three hitless innings, holding the Warriors in check.

The Beavers scored twice more in the 2nd off of Amery relief pitcher Kyle Paulson to push their lead to 7-0. Zappa singled and then advanced when Bergstrom reached on an error by SS Brock Luch. After Rose and Blaser struck out, Clark doubled, driving in both runners. FollansbeeDelong grounded out hard to SS to end the inning.

Freshman catcher Steven Bielmeier of Amery, cousin of Adam Bielmeier and nephew of pitching coach Randy Bielmeier, got Amery's first hit in the first at bat of the fourth. He scored on an error by his cousin, who was playing shorstop for the Beavers, on a tough fielding chance.

Cumberland got the run right back in the fifth when Blaser led off with a single and advanced on a Clark single. He scored on a wild pitch.

The Beavers got two more in the sixth when Severson led off with a single, but got erased on a double play on a ball hit to 2B by Zappa. Bergstrom singled, and scored on a laser by Rose, only the third homerun hit out of the Amery ballpark after the fences were moved back, for his 2nd homer of the year. Amery scored single runs in the sixth and seventh, but sophomore lefty Tommy Zappa limited the damage with a superb 70-pitch outing.

He scattered four hits, walked none, and was aided by great defense, highlighted by Clark's play at 3B. He had six assists (one short of the school record) and doubled off an Amery runner when he speared a line drive over his head in the sixth.
