Game Summary: It was the hitting and the pitching that won it for the Beavers. When you consider that Cumberland committed a heinous seven errors compared to the Saints zero errors, it had to be the other two facets of the game. It was, and here are the details...

Starting pitcher, freshman Adam Bielmeier, retired the first two Saints in order, but allowed a triple to talented Saint's hitter Matt Vold. C Gus Koecker grounded to 3B Mike Forster, who committed an error, allowing Vold to score. DH Will Ball grounded to 1B, which was misfielded by Mitch Blaser. 3B Ben Anderson and RF Josh Larcom followed with consecutive singles to drive in the 2nd and 3rd runs. Starting pitcher Marcus Campbell grounded to the hole, but Forster made a nice play to throw him out.

The Saints took a 4-0 lead with a run in the second. SS Sam Clark allowed LF Sam Schmidt to reach on an error. He would score on a groundout by CF Nick Johnson.

The Beavers cut the score to 4-2 by scoring twice in the third. Clark got hit by a pitch to lead of the inning. Forster hit a booming triple to RF to drive him in. 2B Graham Severson lined out hard to CF, scoring Forster. The Saints got those right back, taking a 6-2 lead after three and a half innings. Campbell singled to lead off the inning, and Schmidt reached on a fielder's choice/error by Bielmeier when he laid down a bunt in front of the mound. Johnson singled to RF, and the ball was misplayed by RF Brady Rose, allowing Campbell to score. Schmidt would later score on a fielder's choice, in which the Beavers narrowly missed turning a double play.

But the Beavers answered again, getting those runs back, cutting the deficit to 6-4. C Beau Bergstrom and 1B Mitch Blaser led the inning off with singles. After LF Graham Miller grounded out and Rose struck out, Clark lined hard to CF for a single, driving in both runs. Forster popped out to 1B to end the inning.

The Beavers exploded for six runs in the fifth to get the win. Severson singled to start the inning, and Bielmeier tripled him home. Zappa singled him home. Bergstrom struck out, but Blaser drew a walk. Miller grounded into a fielder's choice, but Rose singled to load the bases. Clark struck out, leaving the bases loaded with two outs. Forster came up big again, doubling to RF, driving in three runs. Severson grounded out to first base to end the inning.

The Saints were able to score once in the sixth, but Bielmeier was able to hold on for the win. He allowed seven runs, but only one was earned. He scattered six hits, and walked one while punching out one. The Saints finished 1-1 in the Tournament, previously beating Prairie Farm 12-3 in Game 1.
