Game Summary: The Beavers wasted a good pitching performance from junior Nolan Scheps, dropping a 5-3 decision to Spooner and giving the Rails the season sweep. Spooner plated two runs in the 1st inning when C Brandon Shutt and SS Sam Holden reached on consecutive errors by Beaver's 3B Sam Clark. LF Donnie Roberts singled both of them in, both runs unearned by Scheps. Cumberland tied the score with two of their own in the 1st. CF Tommy Zappa tripled with one out, C Beau Bergstrom drew a walk. DH Mitch Blaser grounded out to SS, scoring Zappa. After RF Graham Miller walked with two outs, 2B Graham Severson singled home Bergstrom. Clark struck out to end the inning.

The score remained the same until the the fourth. Greg Shullo led off with a single for the Rails. Scheps got Spooner pitcher Christian Gravesen to strikeout, followed by a punch out of DH T. Scheffel. RF Grubbs came through, doubling for the Rails. He scored on an error by SS Adam Bielmeier. Scheps struck out Schutt to keep it at 4-2. The Beavers got one back in the bottom of the frame when Clark led off with a walk. Scheps doubled him to 3B. LF Sawyer FollansbeeDelong struckout, but Bielmeier flew to CF, scoring Clark. Zappa struck out with Scheps on 2B to cut the lead to 4-3.

The Rails got an insurance run in the 7th, but they wouldn't need it. Bergstrom led the 7th off with a single, but Blaser grounded out, Miller popped out, and Severson struck out, giving the Rails their 8th victory on the season.

JV Summary: The junior varsity Beavers played a sloppy game, handing Spooner a 15-13 victory. Beaver pitchers Vaughn Waite, Mike Harris, and Travis Nyhus combined for 10 walks allowed, and two Beaver errors allowed five unearned runs to score. C Ryan Behling, 3B Bryce Sebens, and SS Eric Nyhus had two hits apiece for the team, whose record fell to 3-4. Travis Nyhus took the loss.
