Game Summary: The Beavers let this one slip away in Bloomer, giving up five runs and a four run lead in the sixth, stranding 13 base runners along the way. Bloomer starting pitcher Alex Koehler struggled his way through the first inning, walking SS Adam Bielmeier, striking out 2B Nolan Scheps, walking CF Tommy Zappa, striking out P Graham Miller, walking LF Sawyer FollansbeeDelong, but striking out 1B Mitch Blaser to leave the bases loaded with no damage. The Hawks scored twice in the 1st off Miller. Koehler drew a lead off walk. SS Matt Schley struckout looking, but 1B Seth Burgess and CF Matt Dachel hit back to back doubles plating two runs.

The Beavers answered right back in the 2nd. DH Vaughn Waite hit a rope to LF that one-hopped the fence for a double. RF Brady Rose drew a walk. C Beau Bergstrom got his first hit of the year by scorching a double to the CF-RF gap scoring Waite and Rose, who had advanced on a previous wild pitch. Bielmeier flew out to RF for the 1st out. Scheps hit a liner back to the pitcher that Koehler was able to knock down, advancing Bergstrom to 3rd on the throw to 1st. Bergstrom then scored on a wild pitch before Zappa struck out to end the inning.

The Beavers pushed the lead to 5-1 by scoring twice in the fourth. Scheps singled with one out and scored when Zappa tripled on a bomb to RF. After Miller drew a walk, FollansbeeDelong beat out a potential double play, scoring Zappa on the fielder's choice. Blaser popped out to SS to end the inning. Bloomer got one back in the bottom of the inning as Dachel led off with his 2nd double of the game and scored on an Alex Lane single. Miller allowed a walk to RF Jacob Zweiefelhoffer, but got the next two hitters to pop out and 2B Brett Stuckert to ground out to Bielmeier to end the threat.

Cumberland made it 6-3 with a run in the fifth. Waite led the inning off with a single, his 2nd hit of the game. Rose followed that up with a scorching double to CF. Bergstrom walked to load the bases with nobody out. Waite scored when Bielmeier hit a sacrifice fly to RF. Scheps and Zappa flew out to LF to leave two more runners stranded.

Cumberland added what they thought would be an insurance run in the sixth, to make it 7-3. 2B Kyle Narges drew a lead off walk. FollansbeeDelong sacrifice bunted him to 2B. Blaser drew a walk. Narges advanced to 3B when Waite hit into a fielder's choice, putting runners on 1st and 3rd. Rose and Bergstrom drew consecutive walks, pushing in a run. Bielmeier grounded out hard to SS, to leave the bases loaded.

The disastrous sixth inning started when Nolan Scheps, who had relieved Miller in the fifth, allowed a lead off walk to Dachel. Lane hit a looping liner that was speared by a diving Brady Rose on the RF line for the first out. Zwiefelhoffer hit a grounder to 1B Mitch Blaser who bobbled the ball, committing the only error of the game. After Blodgett popped out to make it runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs, it seemed as the Beavers would be able to get out of the inning. Unfortunately Scheps walked LF Jacob Prill on seven pitchers and Stuckert on four pitches to force in a run, leaving the bases loaded with two outs and the score 7-4. Lead off hitter Alex Koehler came up and lined a 1-1 pitch for a double into the CF-RF gap, driving in three runs and tying the score. He then scored when Schley hit a bloop single just out of the reach of Narges at 2B. Burgess grounded out to end the inning, leaving Bloomer with a one-run lead.

Scheps led the 7th off with a hard ground out to SS. After Zappa drew a walk, Miller struck out, with Zappa stealing 2B on the play. FollansbeeDelong struck out on a 0-2 curve ball to end the game.
