Game Summary: Hayward started their ace Tom Danczyk in Game 2, only to have the Beavers treat him rudely with scoring three runs on three hits. Starting pitcher Adam Bielmeier drew a lead off walk, followed by consecutive singles by SS Nolan Scheps, CF Tommy Zappa, and DH Graham Miller. LF Saywer FollansbeeDelong sacrificed Miller to 2B, but 1B Vaughn Waite and RF Brady Rose struck out limit the damage to three runs.
The Canes answered with two runs of their own in the home half of the first. SS Conor Sabin led the inning off with a double and Danczyk followed that up with a walk. Sabin stole 3B, but had to hold when C Nick Hustedt grounded out to 3B Tim Carlson. He would score when LF Pete Freund blooped a ball into RF that was speared on a diving catch by 2B Ryan Behling, for a sacrifice fly. 1B Cory Peterson and 3B Aaron Martin singled. Bielmeier stranded one of them when he got RF Brendin Rogers to pop out to Behling.

Danczyk found his groove and cruised through the 2nd and 3rd innings, striking out five consecutive along the way. Hayward tied the game in the third when Freund singled with one out and stole 2B. He advanced to 3B when C Beau Bergstrom threw wildly. Peterson scored him with a deep fly to CF.
Rose singled with two outs in the fourth, but was stranded when Carlson popped out to 1B. Senior Graham Miller took the mound in the fourth, and after striking out two runners, allowed Sabin to reach on a walk. Sabin advanced to 2B on an error by Bielmeier, now playing SS. Sabin was then picked off by Miller trying to steal 3B.
Bielmeier had a one-out double in the fifth, but was stranded when both Scheps and Zappa grounded weakly to the pitcher. The Canes took the lead with an unearned run in the fifth. With one out, Freund grounded to SS and reached when Bielmeier bobbled and couldn’t make the throw in time. Freund stole 2B, and Peterson drew a walk. Miller struck out Martin, but gave up a short bloop single to Rogers, scoring Freund. He then struck out 2B Cory Patko to keep the score at 4-3.
The Canes got two more insurance runs in the sixth. With two outs, Danczyk doubled, and Hustedt drew a walk. Freund drove in Danczyk with a single, and Hustedt scored on an errant throw by Rose. Freund advanced to 2B on a wild pitch and then stole 3B. After Peterson walked, Miller got Martin to ground out to Scheps, now playing 2B.

The Beavers went quietly in the seventh, striking out three times. Danczyk, who was 1st Team All-Conference as a pitcher last year, got better and better as the night went on. He allowed only three hits after the 1st inning, and struck out 14 Beaver hitters while walking only one... Bielmeier, the first batter he pitched to.
